IHRC: Commission Funds Scholarship,
Empower Women in IDP Camp
IHRC NGA: According to the National Volunteers Coordinator (NVC) Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) Nigeria, Elijah Vitus Echendu; over fifteen indigent students at Government Secondary School Dutse Abuja have received full-scale scholarship grants including enrollment for the 2023 West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) respectively. Elijah disclosed in correspondence with the Commission's Editor-in-Chief Mr. Fidelis on Thursday 2nd February 2023.
He said during the 2022 16-Days of Activism Against GBV, some women at Malaysia Garden IDP Camp were promised empowerment after undergoing skill acquisition training initiated by the Organization. “Myself flanked by the SMM Coordinator in Abuja, Comr. Adeoye David Olesugun left Dutse Secondary School and proceeded to the IDP Camp to fulfill our promise to them".
Courtesy of the Ambassador at Large and Head of Diplomatic Mission IHRC Nigeria, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Duru Hezekiah, beneficiaries from the skill acquisition program were empowered with scale-up materials to enable them to start up their businesses.
Both the school students and women at the IDP Camp were urged to put effort by not disappointing the expectation of the Commission, as further partnerships would be determined by the outcome of this established scholarship and empowerment.
