Nigeria: Special Monitoring Mission of the International Human Rights Commission (SMM IHRC), Abuja, yesterday celebrated the international menstrual hygiene day at the Government Secondary School Dutse.
According to the Zonal Volunteers Coordinator for Abuja, Comrade Adèoye David said that the Menstrual Hygiene Day is an annual awareness day slated for May 28, to highlight the importance of good menstrual hygiene management at a global level.
He mentioned that the team of SMM who visited the school trained the students in the importance of menstrual hygiene, the calculation of monthly flow, the products used for menstruation, the use of disposable pads, and the making of reusable pads.
“About 100 girls were involved in the training and different period products were distributed to the girls including refreshments", he pointed out.
In attendance were Comrade Damilola, Comrade Devine, and Comr. Bitrus, Comr. Faith Okpi, Comr. Goodness, COMR Jennifer, Comr. Jaydgreat, and Comr. Adeoye.
